Does Nuclear Power Plant Have Many Advantages?

            This earth has much energy inside. Those energies can help people in this world to make their life easier, but the scientists had predicted that the energies will be used up one day. So, they had to think of other energy to survive. They thought that the answer is the energy of nuclear. Nuclear power plant becomes the Indonesian government’s discourse. They think that Nuclear might be alternative energy for the next periods. However, NPP provoked some reactions from the public. The realization of using this energy makes many controversies. Some people agree with using nuclear because they believe that nuclear is more efficient than other energy. On the other hand, many people disagree with using nuclear. They had already thought about the dangers that will be caused by using nuclear.  Both the groups have any argumentation to convince to the public to choose what they will do, using nuclear as the energy or refuse it. The discourse sounds harder when the government support and have effort to make the planning real. But, as the other new project, NPP has some problems. So, the government has to rethink of the plan. Does nuclear power plan have many advantages or even disadvantages? The government has to think of the consequences or risks for the human life. It is clearly difficult stuff.

            Firstly, the government believe that nuclear is the most efficient energy to be substituted for the previous energies that have been used up long time ago. However, the government looks like ignoring the dangers probably caused by energy of nuclear. They don’t look to the previous disaster that is caused by nuclear. Chernobyl tragedy was being the most frightening nuclear disaster. The accident that happened because of the careless during the reactor operating was unforgettable. Many people have suffered because of the tragedy. Besides that, the disasters have potences to damage the tank reactor. The latest tragedy in Japan, some nuclear reactors exploded because of the earthquake and it can lead to the nuclear radiation Moreover, the disasters often came to Indonesia. It will make any possibilities to damage the project. All People don’t want to get disadvantages. They want the government to save their life. Besides that, Indonesia still has other efficiency energy. Coals and gas has potency to be cultivated. So, the government doesn’t need to build NPP, as the technology in advance countries, to be new electrical generator in Indonesia and the government should rethink of the planning.

            Secondly, the government declares that the location of nuclear power plant’s building in Jepara is far enough from the public building, so, it is safe to build NPP. However, they don’t realize the real dangers that will probably happen. A nuclear accident will break the tank of the reactor and put the radioactive. It probably makes nuclear radiation. The radiation will be the most dangerous. It can make people paralyzed. The nuclear radiation can spread into 30km.

            Thirdly, the government claims that energy of nuclear is cheaper than other energy, but it is only when the project run. What about  the NPP building process? It needs a lot of money. It spends almost 28 trillion for buying the technology. The fee should be relocated to other problems in this country. Moreover, the government doesn’t have enough sophisticated technology. The money should be relocated for provisioning technology.  Looking to the last techno-accident in Sidoarjo, the government doesn’t have sophisticated technology to solve the problem. The result is that people are still suffering until this time. It will be much better if the government wants to improve the skill of the operating technology and give understanding about the technology. So, the technologists know exactly what they have to do when there is an accident during the operating. Then, no more people will suffer.

            In conclusion, the government should rethink of the plan. Because of the fact that has happened, the government should cancel the plan. Does the energy of nuclear have many advantages or disadvantages? Do Indonesian people ready with the technology? So they understand what they have to do if there is an accident in this industry. Perhaps, energy nuclear is the most powerful energy, but it also has many dangers. Giving understanding about the technology to the Indonesian people will be much better than building the advance country’s technology that we don’t really understand yet.
