Ramadhan Fasting

The Benefits of Ramadhan Fasting

Fasting in Ramadhan’s day is one of five pillars in Islam. Fasting is the third pillar of Islam. In this month, all Muslim have to fast since morning (shubuh) till evening (magrib). They have to prevent their selves from willing to eat and drink for a day. They also have to keep their emotion and try to be more patient. But, do you know the benefits of fasting? As the pillar of Islam, fasting has so many benefits. Healthy, psychological and social benefits have been created by fasting.
One benefit of fasting is in health. Perhaps, someone who’s doing fasting just eat two times a day. However, he can make his schedule to eat regularly. On the other hand, our absorbing organs need long time to absorb the food in our body perfectly. So, we’ll give long time to our body to absorb the food. Fasting also can protect us from heartsick because we should be able to keep our emotion while fasting. It will prevent our blood tension to be higher and make it establish. It has relevance with psychological benefits.
A second benefit is in psychology. As I mentioned, we should be able to keep our emotions while fasting. We should be more patient to accept our conditions. We have to realize that fasting in Ramadan’s day isn’t something that is forced for us and all Muslims in this world. However, the benefits of fasting are for us. So, we have to do fasting sincerely. We should be able to control our own emotions to reduce the anger. Then, it will make us calm down and feel comfortable. It will influence to our social environment.
The third benefit is social benefit. In Ramadhan’s day, we know that there are many activities that are held in many mosques. People open the fasting together. They pray Tarawih together and read Al Qur’an after that. It has created a good social relationship because they try to be more care with other people around them. Fasting also teach us to care with others to remember and feel other people sufferings because we also get hungry and thirsty. So we can feel that how are they really suffering and need some helps for another. Then, we can give our help to share with them. So, Muslims have strong solidarity between each other by fasting.
To sum up, fasting is very important to do. We all knew the benefits of fasting. However, we shouldn’t only look at the fasting just as a pillar of Islam and then we have to do that, but also we should try to get the all benefits of fasting. We don’t only get hungry and thirsty, but also get the purposes of fasting.
